Richard Hawkes of the Red Cow, King's Lynn, is shown as making payments to Elizabeth Vincent for her daughter Maria from 1830 to 1836 in the Payments for Illegitimate Children records on FamilySearch:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3....7401,161559501 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3....7401,161559501 He could be the same Richard Hawkes who married Elizabeth Fuller in 1815 and was a master waterman and coal merchant in Ely but I have not proved it yet. That Richard Hawkes is listed with property at Sedgeford Lane, King's Lynn, in the electoral registers but no mention of Red Cow for him. He married Catherine Causton (of King's Lynn) in 1828 and their marriage settlement concerned properties in King's Lynn, but again, this was Setchfield Lane. |
