This is the marriage licence allegation for the first marriage:

Nothing comes up in that database for the second marriage, but I don't know whether it is fully indexed yet.

I know you did but to have 2 marriages seems a bit odd. I just can't think why.

Thank you for the marriage licences and allegations. I was not aware of them and they might help me prove a few things I've been trying to work out.

My best guess is that the witness at the first marriage was the vicar and they were worried that the marriage was invalid because of that.
