James

Ah, but it interests the insurance company and some employers!

You need to download a program like Stratagene or Livewello and put the data in that. That gives you the health info.

Thanks Libby

As we don't want that info we won't bother.

It's a shame that the ancestry DNA tests only give the family history type answers and don't give the medical ones.

It also seems unfair that doing a hobby can affect the jobs of you, your children and grandchildren.

Toni.....they do give you the medical info as well. It's just that, unless you are a geneticist, you couldn't understand it. It's all the same info.
You download a program. I like Stratagene the best as it has more info. It costs about $30 or $40 and run your raw data you get from the test through that.
23&Me has more than Ancestry though. I thought they were the same.

oops there was a typo in there. I meant it's a shame they don't only give family history results, that can't affect medical history and insurance etc.

When I clicked it was an ad for Grammerly but I thought it was the video. I thought I had misread the title of the thread lol

It is a worry that a DNA company has sold the information to pharmecutical companies.

Kit

That has always been a worry of mine. Genetic information makes a very valuable database and the more valuable a thing is, the more it attracts the unscrupulous.
