Default What happened to George and Rachel Stillings?

George and Rachel Stillings married on 11th March 1860 at Morley, Yorkshire.
George was born in 1833 at Sowerby Bridge and Rachel c. 1830 in Darlington, Co. Durham.

The 1861 Census finds them on the outskirts of Leeds:

STILLINGS, George Head Married M 27 1834 ... & Sprint Warehouseman Sowerby Bridge Yorkshire
STILLINGS, Rachel Wife Married F 22 1839 Darlington Durham

RG number: RG09 Piece: 3351 Folio: 144 Page: 15

Address:
Low Fold, Armley Leeds, Leeds County:
Yorkshire (West Riding)

After that they seem to vanish and I can't find any deaths for them either.

Can anyone spot them, please?

I can't find anything other than the one Finbar found either. This same family appear in 1881 too. I can't find them with those same details in 1861, only the one you have where Rachel is born in Darlington.

Unless of course they emigrated.

Thank you, Finbar and Margaret - I had already discounted them as the details don't seem to match. I'll keep them in mind, though.

I think you are right, Margaret, and I really think they emigrated. There is a will for George's father in 1876 so if I bought that it might give me a clue. George's father is the brother of my ancestor John Stillings, so not a direct line.

It's strange where that couple are in 1861 though. They have an 11 year old son in 1871 so should be on there.

edit: found them, so not the same family
