On FreeREG it gives the family's residence as Charlton Mackarel on Jane's baptism, (and father's occupation as yeoman), so her actual birthplace is likely to be Charlton Mackrell, which is near to Babcary, don't you think?

Just realised that Jane's baptism date at Holy Cross, Babcary, is shown as 7 May 1813 on FreeREG, but FreeREG also has a baptism for Jane Dauncey, 30 Aug 1813, at Virgin Mary church, Charlton Mackrell, parents Charles and Ann, father's occupation farmer. So the information you have seems to be a mixture of the two baptisms! It looks like the same people on both, though.

FORD Rector and I wonder if they didn't baptize her twice. The two villages are very close, as you say, and according to the 1841 census Mary, the mother of her husband James Hockey, lived in Babcary and ran the local shop.
