Default How do I find this will?

Merry put me onto the Death Duties Index on FMP.

I've found the death of Wm Emett, husband of Christiana Emett, nee Taylor and I'd love to find his will, and his death actually.

Now I know he died in 1840 from the index but the location of the will is not clear to me. It says PCC and Country Courts. It is not the Prerogative Court of Canterbury as the will is not there. Where else should I look?

The FMP entry is:

Wm Emett

If he was in the Bristol area, there is a William Emett entry for 1840 in the Bristol wills index - link to PDF below:

and information on how to get a copy:

I think he lived in Bristol based on the death duties index.

Thanks Kate, that does look like him.

Merry, it must be him, he's the only one by that name.

I didn't think to check freebmd as I didn't know where he lived and he could have died anytime from 1833 so I had decided it was prior to registration as this family is hard to get on with. It was only that you had mentioned th Death Duties Index the other day that I have been checking to see if people are on it to see if there is a possibility of a will. If Christiana hadn't been the executor I would not have known he was my man.
