Default John Parkins

Not much to go on for this chap.

Probably born about 1800 in Devon, England

His daughter's marriage cert gives his name. Occupation: labourer.

His daughter is here:Mary Ann Perkins
and yes, I do know the spelling isn't the same I only have his name on Mary Ann's marriage cert (11.11.1841).

There is this family in 1841, don't know if you have already seen them:
Sutton(?) Hill, Ilsington, Devon
John Perkins 55 Ag Lab Y
Susanna Do 45 Y
William Do 15 Y
Susan Do 12 Y
Elizabeth Do 8 Y
George Do 5 Y

They look likely to be the couple who got married in 1820, don't they?

And then this is them in 1851:
Louse(?) Hall Cottages, Ilsington, Devon
John Perkins Head M 72 Ag Lab Bradford Devon
Susan Do Wife 60 Ashburton Do
Geo Do Son U 15 Ag Lab Ilsington "

If only we could find something to connect them to Mary Ann! Did you ever hear back from the Ilsington OPC, Sarah? I can't see baptisms for any of John and Susan's children on FamilySearch although they have Ilsington baptisms on there.

Aha! Findmypast has this baptism: George Leaman Perkins 6 Mar 1836 at Bickington, abode Knighton, parents John and Susanna, father's occupation labourer. And also William Perkins baptised 23 Oct 1825 at Bickington, abode Ilsington, parents John and Susan, father's occupation husbandman.

Not found Mary Ann yet, but for some reason it doesn't find anything if I put Bickington in as the place name, so there are loads to look through (since you can't search on parents' names on there).

Okay, the registration district for Ilsington was Newton Abbot, and there is a John Perkins death in that district Apr-Jun 1857, but no age on the index at that time. There is a Susan Perkins death Jan-Mar 1858 and a Susannah Apr-Jun 1860.

Thank you Kate That's really helped

There's nothing on FamilySearch - and Ancestry hasn't been useful either this time
