Lancashire Will Search has an Edmund Barton listed in 1816, Cadiley, labr, Amounderness. I'll see if I can find him in the Index to Death Duty Registers.

Found him - 1816, Edmund Barton, executor William Barton of Preston, Lancaster. My Edmund had a son called William so it looks very likely to be him.
