Date and place of burial / cremation: Buried in the Ryan plot in Milltown Cemetery, Belfast When was Catherine born? I have a birth record for Catherine Ryan, born in Newry on 14 July 1876 and baptised on the same day. On this record, her mother’s name is listed as Sarah Hand and the two baptismal witnesses are Michael and Ellen Hand. On the 1881 census, Catherine is four. This ties in with the date of birth above. In the 1901 census, Catherine is 21 and in the 1911 census, 32. This gives a date of birth of 1879 or 1880. However, the place of birth is Armagh. When she died in 1965, her daughter gave her late mother's age as 75, but this would give a date of birth of 1890. Last edited by Shona; 08-04-16 at 08:25. |
