Yes, Julie, it's quite nice to have some rascals in the tree. Most of them have been fairly law-abiding so far.

It's amazing how well-documented it is.

We'll have to do some digging with your Cornish ancestors, Julie.

How far down do you figure the loot is buried, Liza?

Would anyone know where the Osmington Mills Smuggling History pages have disappeared to. The link now seem defunct.

Smuggling around Weymouth, Dorset.

http://www.weymouth-dorset.co.uk/smuggling.html

I am a direct descendant of Roger Seaward mentioned in this article and that link had an awful lot of interesting history in it.

Thanks

Is this it?

I'm in debt to Gwynne and any others who in the past have pointed out the treasury of saved web pages in the so-called "Wayback Machine" at web.archive.org.

Janet, heartfelt thanks! I spent a fruitless half hour last night looking for the pages.

You're welcome, Elizabeth. Wonder why they've disappeared so thoroughly from the active web? I was getting pretty frustrated too until it occurred to me where I really ought to be looking.

Thank you so much Janet for this, very much appreciated . Elizabeth Seaward ( 1745- 1826) born Osmington Mills was my 6th Gt.Grandmother, her mother was Elizabeth Seaward nee Charles (1710-1778).

My Cornish lot were Methodists as well, and involved in boats, either privately or as Royal Marines. My ggg grandfather was Simeon Ruby. Now doesn’t that sound like a pirate? lol
His son in law was the one who built the church at Warwick that was moved to Scots College when the Big W shopping centre was built.
