I've added the specifics for burial provided by the burial receipt in the possession of my family in England.

In 1841 there is a George Spence working as a Male Servant for a farmer, James Waddington, in the Knaresborough district:

http://search.findmypast.co.uk/recor...1%2f0009556983

This would fit in with George becoming a groom. His age is given as 15, but the ages of the servants are all multiples of 5!

Edit: I don't think this is him now.
See 1841 Census below.

There are a William and Ann Spence in Knaresborough producing children in the 1820s. William is a butcher and a publican:

Maria bapt. 6 May 1821 William a publican
William bapt. 19 February 1826 William a Butcher
Robert bapt. 4 April 1830 William a Butcher
Ann bapt. 13 July 1835 Butcher

They appear on the 1841 Census:
http://search.findmypast.co.uk/recor...1%2f0009550494
with children Maria 20, William 15, Robert 11, Ann 6 and Jane 11 months.
William and Ann both 40. He a butcher.

I'm mentioning them for elimination purposes because I don't think they are your family.

The only other baptism of interest I have found is this:

William bapt. 11 May 1831
This time the father William is a labourer. Also the birth is just 2 years after George's baptism.
They are given as living at Brereton.
For George's entry they are living at "Brearton", so it looks like the same William and Ann.

Genuki gives the spelling as Brearton. It is 4 miles north of Knaresborough.

Didn't I see something about Newton on Ouse in the other thread?

There is the burial (plus image) of an Ann Spence at Knaresborough in 1833. She is 25, so born c. 1808.

http://search.findmypast.co.uk/recor...ur%2f204196063

Everyone on the page is given as living at Knaresborough.
