Locating a Burial in Malta
Hi,
I've finally found a document which confirmed a date and place of death for someone in my tree I have been trying to kill off for a number of years. He is Joseph Eggington and he died 29th August 1866 in Malta. This was from an Army document which confirms he was a soldier in the Yorks/Lancs 84th Foot Regiment. I would like to know where he is buried but I don't know where to start with burials in Malta and wondered if anyone here had any experience? I don't think he was returned to Sheffield as I have had no success locating him in any of the Sheffield churchyards or cemeteries of the time. Any help is appreciated

This one (Pietà Military Cemetery) is possible as Wikipedia says "The first British serviceman buried at the cemetery was a group of British soldiers buried in 1866."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piet%C...itary_Cemetery I haven't found a way to search for burials there apart from CWGC ones yet though. |

Thank you Kate for the link. It does seem promising.
