Default James Cook, born 1808, missing after 1826

James Cook was born on 16th April 1808 at Roadside, Whitechapel, Middlesex.
He was baptised 9th October 1808 at St Mary, Whitechapel.
His parents were Edward and Ann Maria Cook. Edward was an oil man and coach painter.

Edward Cook died in 1826 and his will states:
"Item it is my wish and desire that my son James shall carry on my said business of Coach Builder for twelve months for the benefit of himself his brother Thomas Cook and his three sisters Maria Cook Eliza Cook and Sophia Cook and it is my will and desire that at the end and expiration of the said twelve months a further valuation and account shall be taken of the said household furniture stock in trade and effects as aforesaid and in case it shall proved that the business of a Coach Builder has paid its expences then it is my will that the same shall be continued and carried on by my said son James Cook for the mutual benefit of himself and my said children or the survivor of them ..."

I haven't found James since then, so any help in finding him on censuses or marriage and death records would be appreciated.

I've been looking, but not found anything yet. But if he changed occupation there seem to be quite a few possibles.

Thanks for looking, Kate.

The only possible one I have found is this man in 1871 at the bottom of the page:

He is an Oil and Colourman.

The birthplace for that James is Kentish Town, St Pancras, according to the 1861 census:

Thanks, probably not my man then.

I wonder if he died or went abroad.
His brother Thomas Cook, born 1817, is much easier to trace. He was a Scourer and I have his will of 1871 in my basket ready to order. He settled in Lambeth/Newington. His sister Sophia is with him on one of the censuses.
