I can only presume she is Scottish
It would seem Marnie's father, George, was the first of his family to be born in Lancashire. George's older siblings and his parents (Andrew and Margaret) were born in Scotland.

I've removed the names from your post as they may still be alive, Shona.

Interesting, Merry. In 1911, Mamie Kirk is recorded as a 19-year-old servant in the household of William Cook, who was born in Tayport. No wife is listed. Perhaps she was one of George's siblings.

4 Manor Road, Great Crosby

William Cook, head, 42, b Tayport - married 15 years; 3 children/3 living
James Cook, son, b Glasgow
Margaret Cook, dau, b Tayport
Sidney Cook, 3, b Seaforth
Mamie Kirk, 19, servant, b Bootle

She would have been 16 at the start of the year in which her son was born.
