Default Obtaining a death certificate

when it isn't in the online GRO indexes.

Friend wants to order her grandfather's death certificate in 1961 but that is during the period not in the indexes.

Can you still order on the GRO site if you have the details from freeBDM?

Otherwise she would need to order via the Town register office but they seem to want a lot more details than she has ie spouse's name, dob etc.
