I wondered if the Hugh and Jane Addison mentioned on page 68 here are your Hugh and Jane or another couple. If another couple then there are at least two sets of Hugh and Jane Addisons around at about the same time !

Merry....I am fairly certain there are two Hugh and Jane Addisons around at the same time. They all seem to just appear...lol

The assumption that my Hugh was the one married to Jane Scale only came about because of the time frame and names and other family names mentioned in wills etc.

I do know the burial in 1743 on this link is my guy. The 1744 one is anyone's guess.

Sorry...I think that defaulted back to the search page. I put in Hugh Addison and the whole county. There's only a half dozen of them.

Do you know when Jane was born?

From the will of Robert Scale/s 1708, Hugh married Robert's daughter, Jane.

Did Robert mention his other children in his will, or had they all died?

Jane Scale/s who married one of the Hugh Addisons was born after 1648 (I presume) as that is when her parents were married.

Robert Scale/s married Agnes Mackreth Jan 1648

Richard was born 1648
John 1649
Margaret 1651
Agnes 1652
There was also Jane, Elizabeth and Ellin, all without births but all mentioned in Robert's will written 1707. Ellin died 1707 and her father Robert died 1708.

Robert mentioned all the above children and their families. Jane is the wife of Hugh Addison and no children are mentioned for them. My Hugh and Jane's daughter, Agnes Addison was never born but marries William Kirkby in 1727. Agnes only appears to have two children, David and Jane, born 1728 and 1730.

Googling
"Hugh Addison" site:lan-opc.org.uk
brings up these 3 hits:

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Over-Kelle...1653-1763.html

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Bolton-le-...1653-1736.html

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Hawkshead/...1680-1695.html

So what do we make of this stutter on that second hit?

Default Update!!!!

UPDATE!!!!

Not at all sure where my brain was when I first typed this thread......I was sure there were no other children mentioned in Hugh's will but I was WRONG!!!

Well, sort of....

There are no other children mentioned, however, there must have been a son, brother to Agnes, as he mentions grandchildren...

He gives money to his grandson, Edward Addison of London, on his reaching the age of 21, so he must have been under that. He also gives money to Edward's sisters, Sara, Ann, Agnes and Mary.

He also mentions his own sister, Elizabeth, but I cannot read her surname.
