Looks like William and Mary had a daughter Mary who was buried 11 Feb 1810 at Eastwood (on the pilot site).

Oh, and findmypast has a burial for a William Steer at Eastwood in 1816, age 0. I haven't got a sub to look at it and see if it gives parents' names, so I don't know if he is another of William and Mary's.

And they have a burial for Mary Steer in 1839, age 57 (at Eastwood). There's a likely death reg for her Jan-Mar 1839 Basford district. The death cert should say whether she was a widow or wife of (if it's the right Mary!)

If I get the chance to call in at Notts Archives in the next few days I will have a look at the Eastwood PR's and see if I can find any more info.

Okay, looking at the PR's and BT's didn't help very much but at least I can now tell you that Token was in reality a boring John!

This looks like him in 1851:
Bath Street, Ilkeston John Steer Head M 42 Carpenter Notts Eastwood Ruth Steer Wife 42 Glove Sticker Derbys Shipley. Ancestry has transcribed his age as 47 but it looks more like 42 on the image. And he is definitely 52 on the 1861 census (transcribed as Stoer on ancestry, still in Ilkeston.) |

Okay, I take it back - looking at those PR's does seem to have helped, because look at this in the 1841 census:
Langley Mill, Heanor, Derbyshire William Steer 60 Ag Laborer Y |
