Age of house
Where can you find out how old a house is?
I've google earth an address but can't tell if it would be the same house as on a certificate or another has replaced it.

You could tell us the address and we could give an opinion!

Thanks Merry
It's 1 Howarth/Haworth St, Sunderland c1917 I can't make my mind up whether they were there then.

The 1911 census says there was a family of 8 living in 6 rooms at number 1. Number 3 is described as a cottage with 5 rooms. Don't know whether that helps at all?

I'd say the property for that address on Google street view is definitely old enough, but I'm surprised that property had as many rooms as either of the properties Kate mentioned.

They built backwards I think but yes I see what you mean. Edit: just looked on Street Google, not even double fronted and if you go down side street you can see size of original building, looks like a modern extension there but could be on the house next door. I wondered if the street name had moved. I will see if I can find an old map later. I am hindered by a fat can on my lap so can only type/search etc with one finger!
