Can anyone find this death?
BK6 updated from this thread
I'm trying to discover what happened to my relative, Margaret Huish, nee Mitchell, but am stuck...... Margaret Mitchell was b 1845 in Keynsham, Somerset. In Oct 1869 she married John Henry Huish in Clifton, Bristol. There's a submitted entry on Family Search saying she was 24 and father Thomas Mitchell, which is right. The details for John Henry Huish say he was 30 and his father was Jacob Huish. In 1871 Margaret Huish said she was married and was with her parents in Ashley Down, nr Bristol. After this she vanishes without trace. I think her husband was John Henry Huish b abt 1837 in Whitestaunton, Somerset as his father is Jacob. I've got him as follows: 1841 aged 4 with parents (indexed as Hervy) 1851 aged 13 with parents 1861 aged 23 single 1871 can't find him 1881 aged 44, with new wife, Mary Barton, who he married in 1877. Now, the other little snippet of info is this......In June 1871 there is a piece in the Bristol Mercury about a young man named George Vowles being charged with using threatening language against his wife, Annie Vowles. The cause of their disharmony seems to be that on March 23rd 1871 George had written a slightly amorous letter to another woman which his wife had found in his pocket and she had accused him of infidelity. The 'other woman' was named as Mrs Margaret Huish of Ashley Down! I've tried investigating George and Annie Vowles in case George went off with Margaret Huish. However, George is with his wife, Annie, in 1871 and 1891 (no children either time) but I can't find them in 1881. I can't find a death for Margaret Huish between 1871 and 1877 - can you, or is she under a patio somewhere?

If you can't find it I'm sure I can't. Is it possible her husband divorced her and she remarried? Or maybe John Huish's second marriage was bigamous and Margaret took up with someone else and assumed his name?

lol You lot!
I was focusing on the idea that she shacked up with another man. There's a couple called William and Margaret Walker in 1881 and Margaret as a widow in 1891, who are out of area (London and somewhere up north) and Margaret was b 1844ish in Keynsham. If I go backwards to see who else might be her in 1871, 1861 and 1851 I find: 1871 Margaret Jones 1871 Margaret Mitchell/Huish 1861 same two, plus 1861 Margaret Wiltshire 1861 Margaret Wyatt 1851 some of the above (lol) plus: 1851 Margaret Holbrow and I expect there are more. My Margaret only appears correctly on one census so there's a good chance I've missed some. The trouble is working out which one (if any) married William Walker when the marriage could easily have been anywhere seems really daunting!

I've just had a second look at Wm and Marg Walker in 1881. She is 37 and he is 52 and they have one child, Ellen aged 5.
Am going to see if I can find him in 1871 as, if he is already married to his Margaret then I can discount them (crosses fingers).................

Hmmm......looks like I can eliminate the Walkers.
Wm was b in Leeds but in 1871 he was living with his wife, Clara in St Benedict, Glastonbury in Somerset. I thought the writing looked familar - the household also contains his sister-in-law, Margaret Jones, who I mentioned in my last post! Clara doesn't seem to have died but has vanished by 1881, so it would seem the Walker's may be a naughty couple, but not the right naughty couple!!!! Back to the drawing board..... Maybe the death just didn't get to the GRO?
