Default That was quick

I ordered some certs last week on 3 and 4 March.

Today I received the last one I ordered. Quite quick service.

Well done Somerset RO.

My only disappointment is that I didn't get a copy of the original register, which I asked for. The register may not be up to photocopying though so I can't complain.

Now I can order the parents marriage cert at the cheaper price. Mum was who I thought but it's nice to know for sure.

Full marks for Lincolnshire RO & Cheshire RO who dealt with my application the day they received it & sent copies of the original register entries too

Very good Jay. I checked my envelope and they posted it the day after I ordered.

I've rechecked the cert too and my 3g grandma signed with an X so the original wasn't going to give me her signature anyway. Shame as she died when my 2g grandma was very young. I'd have liked to have had her signature.

Some of these are just signed X but it's still nice to get a proper copy rather than a handwritten or typed one.

I've ordered a few more Cheshire ones last night & this morning! One being a death cert for a 6 x great grandmother who died in 1839 aged 97!

I've stopped counting how many new certs i've ordered before 6th April now! LOL

I'm tossing up whether to get the marriage cert for the woman above from the GRO or Somerset. It's cheaper from the GRO and if I'm only going to get a typed copy doesn't seem worth the expense.

This is the first time I've had a typed copy from an RO.

Toni my local RO can only do proper copies of marriages & not births or deaths, maybe email/ring Somerset & see what they do.

All the marriages I have are either copies or handwritten, never had a typed marriage cert from a RO before.

I was thinking that I'd email them to see if I could get a copy of the original before ordering. The birth cert was 1841 so maybe the register was just too old or decrepit to copy. Handwritten is the same as typed to me so I'm not fussed, I'd prefer the original.

Just emailed Somerset. Scared myself though as the marriage is in 1858 and I said the birth cert was 1841. It was 1859. 1841 is a birth cert from Staffs RO.

Hopefully they reply to emails as quickly as they send out certs.

Got my reply today. Stupidly I asked if I could get a copy of the register rather than a photocopy but I was told they handwrite all their certs. Not sure how I got my typed copy.
