Louisa Timms/Tymms/Timbs
Here are the births of Louisa and her sister, in Stony Stratford, Bucks.
TIMBS, LOUISA ELLEN COX GRO Reference: 1878 M Quarter in POTTERSPURY Volume 03B Page 24 TIMBS, ELIZABETH ANN COX GRO Reference: 1880 M Quarter in POTTERSPURY Volume 03B Page 23 And here is the family in 1881: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...157?pId=608916 Joseph Elizabeth A Louisa Elizabeth And here is Louisa in 1891, with her grandparents Elisha and Hannah Timbs https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...8?pId=12971145 The small family had fallen apart in the early 1880s: Elizabeth senior had another baby; both she and the infant died. I think little Elizabeth died too. Joseph was had up for larceny, and the next I hear of him, he is marrying in London, as a bachelor, has changed is surname to Smith, and says his father Elisha is dead. The next I hear of Louisa, she is in Salford: Marriages Jun 1900 Jacobson Paul Salford 8d 230 Timms Louisa Ellen Salford 8d 230 They are together in 1901, where Paul is a ship greaser, born in Germany, https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBC%2F1901%2F3737-3738%2F0479&parentid=GBC%2F1901%2F0021254556 then Louisa disappears. Paul is admitted to a lunatic asylum in 30 Sept 1911 and dies in 1915: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/9051/images/42477_625537_11600-00456?pId=11606 There is a Louisa who emigrates in 1905, but she has a child with her, and I cannot find that she had any children with Paul. Can anyone see what happens to Louisa?

I'm assuming that this is the same 1905 emigration on Ancestry?

There is a Louisa Ellen Phillipson, wife of Eric Phillipson, in Newport, Monmouthshire, on the 1911 census, age 34, born Stony Stratford:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...ce&pId=3053768 Married 2 1/2 years, no children, so I assume she is the Louisa Clarke who married in 1908 in Newport, Mon. There is a Louisa Ann Clarke birth registered Jan-Mar 1875 Pottersbury; I suppose she could have changed her middle name and knocked a couple of years off her age. |

Hmm, lots of public trees on Ancestry give the date of birth of Louisa Ellen Timbs as 14 Dec 1877, and guess what Louisa E Phillipson's dob is on the 1939 Register?!

Louisa Ellen Phillipson's death was registered Oct-Dec 1946 Pontypool. FreeBMD says age 66 but the GRO site says 68.

Thanks, Kite.
I'm curious as to where her dob comes from: she does not appear to have had any children, so I don't understand why anyone would bother to obtain her birth certificate. If she is the same person, she's unlucky with husbands: eric is found under a tram in 1920. I haven't paid to look at the 1921 census, but she's at the same address, with one Harry Webb. According to te available info, she's born in London, and I assume her age is mistranscribed. Given that her Timbs grandparents are continually in debt, and her father constantly in trouble with the authorities, it's not unreasonable to assume that she did take off and change her name.
