1939 Register - ancestry
with images.
Just found this out of FB. I could not find it on the card catalogue. Someone suggested looking in categories when you search.

Ooh, exciting! And it has a browse facility. I'm guessing the index is provided by Findmypast, but haven't confirmed that yet. It is in ancestry's card catalogue now, though I'm not sure why it says there are 45,876,644 records? FMP has 33,836,052 at the moment and only claims a total of 41 million including the records which are currently closed.

Thanks for the link. I couldn't find one nor was it in the card catalogue.
The images are slightly different to FMP, I think. There is a small part of the right hand page for the records. Most have nothing, some have some comments.

Okay, the index doesn't appear to be provided by FMP, since my grandfather comes up as Alexander L R Bristow on ancestry but is correctly indexed as Alexander C R Bristow on FMP.

Yes I don't think the index is from FMP either as of the few I've checked have different transcriptions.

And the whole page of mistranscribed entries I'm still waiting for fmp to correct after three years (or is it four?) is right on ancestry

I don't have a current FMP sub to check, but I thought their images had that too.

Just realised I can view my previously-viewed images on FMP without a sub, so I checked, and yes, FMP does also have the part of the right hand page.
