28th August 1748, probably at Kempston, Bedfordshire

William Maynard, yeoman, and Elizabeth née Crawley

Firstly to Sarah Moule on 25th Dec 1770 at Great Eversden, Cambridgeshire

Secondly to my ggg-grandmother Rebecca Moule (niece of Sarah Moule) on 11th Oct 1803 at St George's, Bloomsbury, Middlesex


Occupation(s) - if any

Abt 1763-1770 apprenticed to William Wagstaff, grocer, of Great Gransden, Huntingdonshire
1770-1789 soap and candle maker
1789-1821 farmer and grocer

Oooh, I looked at this thread when adding David's mother to ToG4 and made the effort to check the Death Duty Registers on FMP and.....

1821 County Court Wills, David Maynard, Exor John Arnold of Whittlesford, Cambs, Consistory Court of Ely, Register 4, Folio 1050.

So, I shall be sending off for that!

The Consistory Court of Ely probate records are at Cambridgeshire Archives.

I hope you don't have to wait long for a reply, Merry.

The problem with pre-1858 wills is knowing who to contact. Luckily I have have quite a few on TNA, and recently I have ordered from Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre, and just this week from Lancashire Archives.

Yes, I thought that was very reasonable too.

I don't expect anything dramatic to come from this will, but I suppose there's always a chance of something unexpected and certainly only one way to find out!
