Lancashire BMD gives the age of the Samuel who died in 1850 as 70.

The 1841 Census gives his age as 50 .... Is is likely that the person guessed his age at burial .. 70 is a nice round figure ..
I've been looking for his first marriage and between 1811 and 1820 I found five Samuel Woodhead Marriages in Lancs/Yorks .. then tried to find a Woodhead burial at Oldham that might tie in with first wife ... the only one I found was Alice and that is his 2nd wife .. Going around in circles ..

That age of 70 is from the death registration, not the burial, but yes, it could be that whoever registered his death didn't know his exact age. On the other hand, it could be the 1841 census age that's wrong.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an obvious baptism or will. Thanks Kate for getting me back so far. Without parents names on marriages and deaths it makes it very hard.

I saw the images of Mary and Nancy's marriages and Samuel appears to be alive 1/6/1849, and definitely deceased by 3/2/1851. It appears that the death at Oldham in the 1st Q of 1850 is most likely my ancestor Samuel Woodhead with birth around 1780 Yorkshire.
There is a Baptism of Samuel Woodhead child of Abraham and Betty on 10 Feb 1781 Marsden/Almondbury, Yorkshire. Date fits with age at death and his mother is Betty as is his first daughter.
Of course none of this is proven positively but the children baptised of Abraham and Betty Woodhead are - Joshua 1769, Samuel 1771-1773, Betty 1774, Hannah 1776, Anne 1778, Samuel 1781. Abraham married Betty Mellor 4 Feb 1768 St Peter's Huddesfield. Betty wife of Abraham died 19/7/1783 Almondbury. I have found that baptisms are recorded at both Almondbury and Marsden on familysearch records and I am not sure whether that means that one is a minor church and the other the mother church.
Can anyone see that I am making obvious errors? Thanks. Julie
