Marquette, my great-aunt used to live in Martock, in a lovely old house right opposite the church. I know it so well, it is a lovely village.

It is a lovely town. My cousin (3rd or 4th) made a point of visiting there when he went to the UK. In the church he found a lady doing the flowers - and she is also a Worner descendent. We have had a good time sorting out all the rellies - all those William Worners and John Worners, not to mention the four Emmanuel Worners.

My aunt lived in Pound Lane (right by the church) until she died - it was called the Clerk's House and Google Maps shows the house very clearly, and the beautiful garden. You can almost see into the kitchen!

This was her second marriage. When her first husband was alive she lived in Hurst, another part of the town. The houses are made of lovely Ham stone.

While fiddling around with FreeREG, I decided to see how many WORNERs and variations might have been recorded wrongly, or mistrancribed in and around Martock. And I found Matilda Jane's Baptism in Keinton Mandeville Somerset, some 10knms or so north-east of Martock.

WARENER is an already noted variation and all the names and occupations match !
