The certs (birth & death) arrived at the weekend. I've updated the posting.

Does anyone know anything about "senile vaginitis". It doesn't sound like it should be on a death cert - can it kill you?

Are you sure that's what it says, Sarah?

Wikipedia mentions senile vaginitis.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaginitis

I wouldn't have thought that alone would kill her, but myocardial degeneration and arterio sclerosis are common causes of death. Maybe whoever signed the certificate was being extra thorough!

Thanks Sue;

From wikipedia:
Atrophic vaginitis (or Senile vaginitis) usually causes scant vaginal discharge with no odour, dry vagina and painful intercourse. These symptoms are usually due to decreased hormones usually occurring during and after menopause.

It's a very strange thing to put on a death cert I'd have thought...

It's typed really clearly:

Ia.Myocardial degeneration.
b. arterio sclerosis.
II senile vaginitis.

She'd been a widow for some time, I can't even see why the doctor would know.
