This looks like him in 1841. There are quite a few other Bryants or Briants living nearby, and it looks as though there are quite a few relatives living with Joseph and Anna.

1851 at Broad Lane, Altarnun, Cornwall
Joseph Bryant Head Mar 33 Miner Cornwall Altarnun Anna Do Wife Do 32 Do Do Jane Do Daur U 12 At home Do Do Grace Do Do Do 11 Do Do Do Robert Ford Do Son 9 Scholar Do Do Mary Ann Do Daur 5 Do Do Do Marianna Do Do 3 Do Do Do Joseph Do Son 1 Do Do Benjamin Do Do 2 Mo Do Do Joseph's birthplace has just been "Do Do"d from the top of the page so it could be that the enumerator couldn't be bothered to put where these people were really born. The only person on the page whose birthplace isn't Altarnun is someone who was born in another county. |

Joseph Bryant
Fantastic info. I knew there lots in the family from research done 20 years ago. (Obviously working in the dark paid off lol!) For me the icing on the cake is Broad Lane at Altarnun. I've been there the last two years and it is a quaint village. Now when I go back (soon I hope) I will have a specific address so that is really wonderful. The church has the most wonderful carved church pew ends from the 1400s and is called the Cathedral of the Moors. It has a baptismal font with crudely carved faces on each corner. The first time I was with a Backroads Tour Group and they detoured for me to have a look and everyone thought it really special, I was over the moon. Thank you again Julie
