born 7 Aug 1826 [Family Bible] baptised 03 Sep 1826 Farnham Royal, Bucks [parish register] Parents Robert Chowns and Susan/ne/na/h Simons Siblings: William b 1801/2, Maria, 1804, Sophia I 1807, Mary Anne 1808, Susan 1814, Sophia II 1816, Betsy, 1822. 1841 Ann Chouns [sic]15 female servant b Buckinghamshire, working in Wisteria House, Stoke Poges for a surgeon 1850 gave birth to illegitimate son John William Chowns, b 14 May at Farnham Royal, died aged 7 weeks 1st Jul 1850, Farnham Royal. 1851 housemaid, at St Ann's Hill, Wandsworth 23 Oct 1858 married John Smoothy at Kennington Parish Church, Surrey. 6 Feb 1860 gave birth to daughter Elizabeth Louisa at Hill Street, Richmond, Surrey 1861 At The Green, Richmond, Surrey, with her daughter Elizabeth Louisa. Her husband is away, as butler in another household 18 Mar 1862 second daughter Emily Esther, born 11 Aug 1868 son John David Robert [my grandfather] born 24, The Green, Richmond, Surrey 25 Mar 1870 final child, Edith Mary, born 1871 24 The Green, Richmond, Surrey with husband John, lodging house keeper and their children 1881 Vestry Cottage, Old Burying Ground, Richmond, Surrey with husband John Smoothy, beadle & vestry messenger, their children and a lodger, George Newboult, as well as a visitor, William Mott, 13 (who was later a witness at Ann's son's wedding) [Vestry minutes show that John received a quarterly cheque for £1. 6s. 3d from the poor account as assistant overseer, and £15 from the Highway & General account as messenger.] 1891 Vestry Cottage, Old Burying Ground, Richmond, Surrey with husband John, son-in-law Charles Vine, married daughter Elizabeth Vine, unmarried daughter Edith and grandchildren Emily Vine, Alfred Vine, Florence Vine and Alice Vine, plus lodger George Newboult death 15 Sep 1894, Vestry Cottage, aged 68, cause of death: bronchitis, hemiplegia burial 20 Sep 1894 St. Mary Magdalene, Richmond, Surrey Link to gt grandfather: http://www.genealogistsforum.co.uk/f...ead.php?t=1826
