Glen

I got all excited when I saw Wilshere as I have a gt x 3 grandmother called Elizabeth Willsher, though on her marriage she is recorded as Wiltshire. But she came from Coggeshall in Essex.

However, I DO live in Hitchin so I know the places you mention. Small world, eh!

Hi Nell,

I've never lived in Hitchin, my father having left mid C20th but up until a few years ago my uncle was still farming at Offley Bottom. I've found nearly 300 direct ancestors in N. Herts/S. Beds with at least half in Hitchin itself which isn't bad as one of my gps was illegitimate as were many other of my ancestors as can be seen above.

I always check everyone else's entries in anticipation of recognising someone. Not happened yet although some of the Suffolk surnames are familiar.
