Default Tracing WWII

I just found something on EBAY for one of my surnames. I have no idea if the person is mine but thought I'd try to find out. If I have initals, surname, a number (not sure what it is) and know he was in the royal army medical corp is it possible to find out his full name?

WW2 records are mostly not online because many people who served in the war are still living, so it may not be possible but if you PM me the info you have I could have a try.
