What does this mean?
what does ob mean in the following, taken from a published genealogy.
Anthony Story Esq. of Newbottle, of Co Pal. Justice of the Peace, born 1755; ob. 24 Dec 1805. To me it is to do with his death but I would have thought a burial would be b, ot ob. So could it mean obituary?

It means 'died' in this context, from Latin and connected to obituary.

Daphne that would be fantastic if one of your friends would take a photo for me. I greatly appreciate the offer.
The tree I referred to in my original post is from a republication of the book written by Surtees whom is mentioned in your link. (grammar panic!! Should it be who or whom? Does Gwynne read this thread?)
