It does look right in that Annie b 10 Jan is with a Richard T Hughes in 1939, but I just wondered which bit of info is the actual certainty!!

Hi Merry

Where did you find the info regarding the 1980 death registration? GRO doesn't allow me to view deaths in the 1980s without a reference. I use FMP and Ancestry. A little confused now as everything I have points to 1976, I am also sure I was told as a youngster she died in 1976.

Thanks

I copied and pasted from Ancestry and Phoenix has the same info from FMP.

If it's certain that she died in 1976 then the 1939 lady presumably isn't the right one as she matches the 1980 death, yet she apparently has the right husband. A lot depends on which bits of information were known to you before researching and which bits are what you have gleaned from your searches!

What about the other people n the household in 1939? Do they mean anything to you?: Hilda K Hughes b 1917 later married a Williams and John M Hughes b 1934.

What Merry says is so true. Unless we are very organised, most of us know stuff about our families, without noting who told us, and when. It is sensible to note AND DATE any information we receive. And put it somewhere we can find it again. I fail on just about every count.

Yes, me too.

Another thing is recording when something is not what you are looking for and why, and the date you did that research.

And a third thing is having a 'to do' list of things you would look for if you were able to. It's all very well Ancestry (or whoever) releasing a new dataset, but if you can't remember why you wanted to look at it.........

Thanks all

Hilda was my grandmother so definitely the correct 1939 census. I am assuming then that somebody must have told me when I was young, and I either misheard or was told the incorrect year. I did do a search, and found 1976 (Maelor Hosiptal, Wrexham) but that must have been a different Annie. Will take another look.

Thanks again both

Do you remember her dying? I know how old I was and what class I was in when my Grandma died so although I can not remember the year off the top of my head I can work it out.
