She might have been born in 1853 according to the 1861 census.
Could she have been wrongly registered? Not as Mary Ellen, but as Mary Ann? Births Mar 1853 Grigsby Mary Ann Maidstone 2a 387

I've had the same thought Elizabeth, what a family to track!
Now I know why I didn't get birth cert when I first went onto this lot.... Couldn't even see anything on the IGI to help. Thanks for all your help on this.
