Most WW2 service records don't show online anywhere.

I can get the records up on forces war records for the second world war , with service numbers and regiments , and there's over three hundred with our name if you want further info it's a pay service . i could imagine he would have been in a more localised service regiment I believe all males between 18/41 where conscripted in 1939 into the services .

I should have specified for the UK, but I assumed you would realise I wasn't looking for your Eric in US records.

Are you sure you are not looking at American records?

There were only about 25 Eric Burrows in that age catagory in England and Wales in 1939 and not all of them would have been elligible for conscription.

What site are you looking on? EDIT , just realised you said Forces War Records

Here is a quote from Forces War Records about UK post 1920 service records:

Quote:
1921 to the present including WWII

All British service records are available only from the MOD directly, they are not online anywhere at all.

I've just done your search on Forces War Records and as you say, they give you 304 hits, of which only 27 are named Eric and of those, 7 are pre-WW2 records and clearly several are for the same person. None will be actual service records.

And you would need the death cert for Eric if you were going to go down the MoD route. At the moment we don't know for sure which is his.
