Jane Ling, widow
Apologies this is such a long post.
Joshua Ling married at least twice: Marriages Dec 1904 Bone Marion Yarmouth 4b 58 Ling Joshua Yarmouth 4b 58 Marriages Mar 1922 (>99%) HUMPHREY Mary J Ling Yarmouth 4b 30 Ling Joshua Humphrey Yarmouth 4b 30 He died later in 1922: Deaths Jun 1922 Ling Joshua 61 Yarmouth 4b 30 but there are other men of the same name with whom he might be confused: Deaths Mar 1941 Ling Joshua 80 Ipswich 4a 2692 Deaths Dec 1945 (>99%) Ling Joshua W 80 Ipswich 4a 1156 Here is Joshua as a baby with parents Charles and Susan in Blaxhall, Suffolk: https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...jQzMjExMTgzLjA. Here he is in 1911 with Marion in Yarmouth as a bootmaker: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...8&pId=53617003 The mystery surrounds the reason for him marrying Mary Jane Humprey nee Searle. This is the probate entry for Mary Jane's former husband Thomas, who died in 1921: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discovery...=successSource The executors were Fanny Louisa Taylor, his married daughter, and Jane Ling, widow. Thomas Humphrey seems to have spent all his days in Sussex. Mary Jane Searle was born and died in Sussex. I can only think that Mary Jane went to Norfolk at the behest of Jane Ling and nursed Joshua through a final illness. But who was Jane? Was she related to Joshua? Joshua appears to have had one surviving brother, Elijah. Here are Joseph[sic], Eliger[sic] and Susannah their mother in Ipswich in 1871: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...42&pId=8604846 Can anyone link the Humprey and Ling families up?

Perhaps if you ordered a copy of the letters of administration they would give more information about who Jane was.

Wait, I just realised that Thomas's admon was 1928. Won't Jane Ling be Mary Jane?

How stupid can I be! Yes, that's almost certainly Mary Jane. It doesn't explain how she whizzes round from Greatham in deepest Sussex to Great Yarmouth.
I wonder if she put herself about as a nurse?
