Default Stuck on where to look

I'm a bit baffled with this one.
My 4x great grandfather, John Palmer, died 1797/98. His will was not proved until 1807.
In the Dorset land tax records he is listed at Lyme Regis until 1797; 1798 at the same address is "Widow" Palmer. His brother in witness to the will's veracity stated John was "formerly of Coleman Street London but late of Lyme Regis".
I have checked St Stephen Coleman Street, Lyme Regis, Combe Raleigh (where three generations of Palmer's had been vicars), Colyton (where another brother was living), and Combpyne (where his wife was later buried for some unknown reason). There is no sign of his burial.
I don't know where else to look. Can anyone pleaseoffer a suggestion?

Plausible? There is a John Palmer on FMP, buried in Musbury which is about 5 miles from Lyme Regis. There's an image as well. I hope someone else will take a look if they can. I'm too cross-eyed and heading for bed. I'll try to check back tomorrow if you still need something.

I think it says John s of Mr and Mrs Palmer of Budleigh was buried May 4th

So it does not sound like the correct one unfortunately.

Elation while reading Janet's post, only to be followed by dejection with Kiwichris' post, lol.
I have had someone check the Devon records on FMP on my behalf (I only have ancestry), but hope springs eternal.

Do you know whether he and his wife had any children who died young? If so, could he be buried with one of them?

That's the bit I couldn't make out. Thanks, Chris. Sorry, Pine!

That's a tricky one as it appears that there were two John and Mary Palmer's having children baptized in St Stephen Coleman Street London around the same time. Either that or John was married previously despite him being described as a bachelor on the 1771 marriage licence. The burial registers are not digitized for that era (I had someone kindly look for John's burial c.1797); they are held in the LMA.
So I'm not sure if they had more children, and if they survived to adulthood. John's will was written after his marriage to Mary Smith in 1771 and never updated (pretty poor for an attorney lol); he did die aged only 53/54 though. It doesn't mention any children. Only Mary's will of 1818 mentions their daughter (my ancestor) and her three granddaughters. No other children are named. This might not be significant as she also doesn't mention her grandsons either.

No worries Janet. Like I said above I am the eternal optimist.
I always hope to find something in original records missed or mistranscribed. Occasionally I get lucky lol.
Thanks to all of you for taking the time and interest.
Cheers
Darren

Aren't we all, Darren, aren't we all. Otherwise what are we doing here?

Going back to post #1, are we saying that "formerly of Coleman Street, London" is a red herring? Coleman Street is in the City of London.
