Default Harriet Hetlean Smith

Harriet Hetlean Smith married Thomas Cook 15 Apr 1867 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. She was full age, abode 16 Vernon Place, father George Smith, builder. Thomas also full age, a groom, abode 23 Suffolk Square, father George Cook, also a groom. I am assuming that they are the same couple who had a daughter Emma Damaris Cook baptised 19 May 1872 St John, Wolverhampton, although the father's occupation on that is mattress maker, because Emma's mother married my relative William Sewell in 1876 and although her middle name was Mary Ann instead of Hetlean, her father was George Smith, a builder. I can't figure out where the middle name "Hetlean" could have come from or where it went! Can anyone find the Cooks in 1871 or find either of them before their marriage, please? The Harriet who married William Sewell was supposedly born about 1843 in Worcester.

The baptism has Sutherland Place as the address. Thomas Cook, mattress maker, is there in 1871 but his wife is Sarah. She is from Worcester and the right age though.

In 1851, this couple have Harriot aged 6 b Worcestershire and Charlot aged 4.

Here is Caroline in 1861: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...n&pId=20260490

where the girls are given the surname Smith, both born Worcester.

On the 1861 census there's Harriett Smith aged 16 with her grandmother, Jane Barber.

https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bi...try&h=20745666

I saw this:

Marriages Dec 1843
Allen Ann Worcester 18 622
Barber Caroline Worcester 18 622 <<<<<<<<<<<<
Smith George Worcester 18 622 <<<<<<<<<<<<
WILKINS Robert Worcester 18 622

and wondered if they were her parents. (its all a bit tight for the ages as granny Jane was b 1809 according to the 1861 census)

Then I looked at the birth reg for Harriet and saw mmn could potentially be Barber if the writing was bad! (straws??)

SMITH, HARRIETT BARKES
GRO Reference: 1844 S Quarter in WORCESTER UNION Volume 18 Page 515

Then the cat sat on my laptop and closed all my tabs. I had looked for George/Caroline and Harriet in 1851 and not found anything and found granny Jane with her husband James Barber in 1851 which didn't help particularly either.

When Caroline remarries, her maiden name is down as Barker, but I think it is the same person.

Oh, so now Phoenix has found another Harriet! lol Funny her mother is Caroline! But that would mean the same Harriet in two households in 1861.

Phoenix, was the father George in 1851 for your Harriet?

I couldn't find the birth reg for Harriet's younger sister.

Note that in 1851, Caroline says born Plymouth, which would tally with her mother born Devonshire

If the transcript is correct for 51, Charlot is born Jersey.
