Babs, you do have a birth registration for one of the children who was born after 1837 to confirm her maiden name was Roberts, don't you? Her husband is James Johnson on the censuses but I'm just wondering - their oldest child on the 1841 census is James jr age 5, so was there a gap of a few years between their wedding and their first child?

I can't get the IGI site to load at the moment to check the marriage.

All Saints West Bromwich marriages are supposed to be complete for 1831 on FreeREG but there is no James Johnson / Hannah Roberts marriage listed.

Marriage on IGI is 5th Dec 1831 at All Saints, West Bromwich. It's an extracted one.

batch M010241

source 0497348

It's not listed on Family Search Record Search

On the 1881 census she gives her birthplace as Princes End, which is in Tipton, and there is a Hannah Roberts baptism in Tipton in 1810 and another one in 1812 but the parents' names don't obviously go with James and Hannah's children.
