Thanks for posting this Lindsay. If it has been mentioned previously I have forgotten or missed it and I thought the GRO was only a 2 year search, which is even worse than the 5 you mentioned.

This will help me sort out the missing children that were recorded as deceased on the 1911 census but must have lived between census. I record them as unknown so they are remembered in some way but now I have a chance to give them names.

Not all years are covered. I've just checked from 1885 to 1911 and some of the children I know were born to certain parents do not come up when I search for a surname and MMN in a particular county.
