His attestation 19 Jan 1901 comes up on FMP but when I click to view the image, it is a different person's record. The transcription gives his service number as 7497 and says it is from WO97 Chelsea Pensioners British Army service records 1760-1913.
Ah, then his record comes up again on the search, and this time the correct image is showing: http://search.findmypast.co.uk/recor...90399%2f2%2f32 Not read through it yet. |

Looking through that record on FMP, he applied in 1904 to extend his service to 8 years, and he was in Malta at the time. All the pages seem to be duplicated, so it takes twice as long to look through, unless it's just Microsoft Edge being stupid.

Right, here we are; he was transferred to the Army Reserves in 1909 (in Malta) and discharged in 1913:

Thanks, when FMP is giving me results I'm finding it often spits out the wrong image, just another gripe I have with the site.

There are no children listed in the army record, although it does have his marriage filled in (the next page after the link in post #4).

Finally got the images to load, last one is interesting, referee was his employer, and just happens to be husband of his aunt so maybe a bit of Sheffield architecture might reveal itself as being the product of the family
