Default Broughton Abbott (FFMF)

Name - "official" name and what they were known as:

09 May 1855, Barnoldswick, Yorkshire (now in Lancs)

Names of parents: Thomas Abbott (AKA Thomas Habbott) & Rachel nee Atkinson

Date and place of baptism - if applicable: 8 July 1855 St Mary Ghyll Barnoldswick, s of Thomas Abbott tailor & Rachel

Details of each of his or her marriages - if any:
1. 06 Jan 1876 to Eliza Garner at St Mary Ghyll Church, Barnoldswick
2. 1905 in Bucklow registration district to Helen Vost


Occupation(s) - if any: Cotton weaver, Overlooker by 1891, cotton weaver 1901

1871: Church St, Little Marsden, Brierfield, Lancs
1881: Orchard Cottages, New Town, Barnoldswick
1891- c1896 17 Butts, Barnoldswick, Yorks (his yougest child John Robert born there 13 Nov 1896 but died in Burnley district 1897) so he probably moved to Nelson after his involvement in a long strike 1895-1896 at Barnoldswick when striking weavers were evicted from houses owned by the Butts Mill owner.
1901: 85 Bradshaw St, Nelson, Lancs
1911: 18 Wilkinson, St Nelson, Lancs
1921: living with youngest son Samuel

24 Jul 1924, Nelson, Lancs, cause unknown

Nelson cemetery with first wife

Memorial inscription - if any:
In loving memory of Broughton Abbott died July 24th 1924 aged 69 years also Eliza his beloved wife died Dec 10th 1903 aged 48 years also Pte Broughton Abbott their son died of wounds in France July 26th 1917 aged 25 years also Pte Charles Ogden son-in-law killed in action at Ypres Sep 12th 1917 aged 31 years.
