Default 100 Fishponds Road Bristol

This workhouse served East Bristol and a local history group have been compiling the names of people including many young children who died and were buried there. The current list covers the late Victorian period. There is a local campaign to erect a memorial to mark the grave yard. But they have been unable to find the burial site for the hundreds of unbaptised babies who were buried outside the wall on unconsecrated ground. http://www.brh.org.uk/site/articles/...l-ground-data/

I remember visiting 100 Fishponds Road many years ago but by then it had become the Bristol Blind home. My mother who grew up in Fishponds could remember rows of old ladies lying in bed with their hair in plaits.
