There doesn't appear to be any George Baker's with father John born at the right time in Wales at all.

He should at least be on the 1861 census with parents

Very odd.

Right I have certs here with me and on daughters BC he is George and on His Marriage cert says George its on his wifes DC that the confusion has come from it says widow of George William and it was done by her sister ;;so going by tog thread for George there is 2 possible ones and 1 could be the 1 I have here dam ;;

Margaret he has been my wall for long enough I have searched loads of pages on all census and couldnt find him ;;

The birth cert you have, is his father John?

I'm wondering if he was illegitimate and made up the name of his father.

As bad as Dave's grandad. Damned impossible brick wall. Wouldn't talk about his family and still can't find anything. Covered his tracks well the s*d did.

Of course, it's possible that George's birth wasn't registered, since he was born before registration was compulsory.

I have 2 Marg this one and one on Tez's tree
Just been looking at that BC number and its june qtr 1854 and the one I have here is june 1854????
