Marriage

https://search.findmypast.co.uk/reco...2F00117994%2F1

First name(s) George
Last name Walter
Age 25
Birth year 1832

Marital status Bachelor
Occupation Royal Marine
Residence Green Row
Marriage year 1857
Marriage date 30 Mar 1857

Spouse's first name(s) Elizabeth
Spouse's last name Robinson

So, I have only found George on one census - born Oxfordshire (possibly son of John and Amelia - but no baptism found)

No trace after 1861 (and Elizabeth has no further children)

Can anyone find his birth or his death or his existence on any census? Note that it took several years to marry after he started a family and his wife, too, like Topsy "just growed"

So this seems likely to be him on the 1841 census since it is in Watlington:

Age 14, son of Amelia, siblings Ann, Mary, Charles, Mercy. Don't know whether that is the one you had already found?

John and Amelia are together in Watlington in 1851 but George isn't with them:

That's what I thought to start with, Kite, but that child appears to have died in 1846.

I find it interesting that John senior is away from home on that date. I do wonder whether he was either a philanderer or just hiding in plain sight.

Hmm. The one every one with an Ancestry tree has chosen. The George who is buried in Oxford in 1846. But actually looks as if he might be the son of George and Kerrenhappuch. Off to check....

Henley would be the civil registration district for Watlington.

I think this is "George"'s baptism record:

https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...9c1&pId=845860

Full name Philip George Comely Walters. Parents John (a labourer) and Amelia.
