Farmer, and was a witness to around 30 marriages at Horsted Keynes

Horsted Keynes, Sussex. A contact has told me he rented "Mr Board's house" which is now the Crown Inn. I have a land tax document of 1798 which places his son Nathan at the Crown, it would appear that Nathan was the first person to run it as an inn

John's father James was appointed to keep the register of births deaths and marriages in Horsted Keynes during the Interrugnum in 1653 after the passing of "An Act touching Marriages and the Registring thereof; and also touching Births and Burials".
