Sarah Grout
Sarah Grout was baptised in 1736 in Braughing, Herts, the dau of Phillip and Dinah Grout.
When Phillip wrote his will in Dec 1767 he named her as Sarah Dyson. He didn't state her husband's name or any children for Sarah. Sarah's siblings all married in Braughing or Bishops Stortford, Herts. I can't find a marriage in Herts, nor had any success with making the Dyson marriage a second marriage for Sarah. There's a marriage in St Saviour Southwark for a Sarah Grout otp to Joseph (EDIT should have said John) Deason otp in Apr 1759 (witnesses Wm Young and James Currio) which a couple of trees have as the marriage. https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...9385067876151e Can anyone find anything more about this couple or find a better couple!?

It's John Deason, not Joseph, Merry!

Also the witness is James Currie.

There is a William, son of John and Sarah Deason, born 2 Feb 1760 and baptised 17 Feb 1760 at St James Clerkenwell:

I’ve seen enough bad handwriting to turn Deason into Dyson or the other way round.

Nothing wrong with this handwriting or signatures and the family (I mean my family!) seem to be literate. I wish I could find something to prove, or at least suggest, whether they are the right people or not.
