Crawfie, thanks for the baptisms. I seem to have mislaid my Hampshire baptism CD for the period, but I'm sure it will turn up soon!

I wrote the above yesterday and it seems I forgot to push the send button!!

Many thanks for the help on this.

Libby, you should post them up (on another thread, maybe). I was going through my list of "unknowns" the other day and managed to fill quite a few in.

*Coughs*

I'm asking for help again for the marriage of Sarah Ayling's father.

A marriage between Thomas Ayling and Sarah ?, probably Sussex or Surrey, not in Hampshire because I have checked. I am searching between the dates of 1675 to 1690, but probably by 1684.

The theory is that they lived in Frensham before going to Bentley, and there are these baptisms at Frensham:

Sarah 19 Feb 1683
John 9 Oct 1686
Thomas 3 Apr 1689

Wills or manorial records are probably more helpful in that period.

Can't find anything in Sussex that fits the bill.

Presumably you have Sarah's will?

Oooh, thanks for that, Crawfie! I didn't have it but I do have her husband's and her son's, which are PCC wills.

This is the will of Thomas Ayling from Empshott in Hampshire from 1676. I haven't been through it completely, but it mentions his son Thomas who lives in Frensham. Possibly the father?
