If it is not possible to get a copy of the baptism certificate from the church, the information on here might help:
https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/...cese_of_Ottawa

(scroll down a bit to get to the Catholic section)

Hmm, that's odd - FamilySearch actually have the images for the Ontario Roman Catholic records available to browse through online, but when you look at St Patrick, Ottawa, Carleton, baptisms weddings and burials for 1867 - 1887, the baptisms and burials do appear to be all written in together, but it goes from the 19th of June straight to the 22nd and no Mary Edwards:
St Patrick images

I'll see if I can figure out what has happened.

Something else odd. I looked at the baptisms for 1887 in that batch number. There are 169 entries for the year, but at least three quarters of them are dated 21st June (OK so I only looked at the first 80 entries, so three quarters of those....)

Oh and once I'd noticed I had some marriages in the list of baptisms and got rid of those I was left with 146 baptisms all for the same date.

Yes, it looks as though the FamilySearch index entries are wrong somehow. St Patrick's has an index for 1877-1887 and there is no Mary Edwards listed for 1887. There is a Mary A Edwards listed for 1882 - page 291; I will see if I can find that.

If you search on FamilySearch for one of the baptisms that shows on the image I linked to for June 1887, they come up in the Ontario Births & Baptisms database, not the Canada Births & Baptisms one.

No, the Mary A Edwards baptised in 1882 is a different person.

The film number comes up in FamilySearch's catalogue as Parish registers, 1855-1917
Author: Catholic Church. Saint Patrick (Ottawa, Ontario).

But looking through the individual films for that title, film number 1301812 is shown to be
Index to baptisms, marriages, burials 1905-1913 Baptisms, marriages, burials 1905-1910 Confirmations 1872-1910

So it should not include 1887 baptisms. My internet is going really slow at the moment so I don't know if I can find anything before I have to go and eat.

I picked a random entry from the page you linked to (Laurence Batterton bap 26th June 1887 son of John Batterton and Mary Holt) and searched for it in the batch we are examining.....the entry comes up but for 20 Sept 1899.

So it looks likely to be a confirmation then?

Something else I know zilch about!

(I tried another - Ellen/Helena Harris and that was listed as 1904 and the first name was spelled differently, but with the same parents as in 1887)
