There are two possible William Roberts birth registrations in Carnarvon reg district (which included Llanllyfni) with no middle names, one Jul-Sep 1878 with MMN Humphreys and one Oct-Dec 1878 with MMN Roberts. Also some with middle names - William Owen Roberts, MMN Thomas, and William Wynn Roberts with MMN Roberts.

Here is a William Roberts age 2 in Llandegai on the 1881 census but his father is a quarryman. Of course we don't have your William's father's details from his marriage cert to check.
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...cklabel=Return Llandegai was in Bangor reg district while Llanllyfni was in Carnarvon. |

There is a public tree on ancestry which has your William born at Pennal, Merionethshire, the son of Thomas John Roberts and Ellen Evans, with a previous marriage in 1904 to Annie Thomas who died in 1908:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/facts?_ph....co.uk/search/ Thomas is also a quarryman. Guess there were a lot of them around! |

Ah, this 1911 census entry fits nicely with that ancestry tree:
