And as far as I know, the old printed Scottish birth indexes (which may or may not show MMN) are not available to search or view anywhere online. Perhaps you are thinking of the deaths search (which lets you search using MMN, although it isn't always available), or the baptism search, which doesn't let you search by parents' names but does at least show them on the results list. (Also, the baptism search on there only goes up to the start of civil registration.)
The before 1855 baptism searches does allow you to select parents names under 1st parent name and 2nd parent name but the initial search page doesn't it appears on the left hand side once you have made that first search page search.

I can assure you that parents names are shown on searching births. On entering the name of your subject, a list is shown of possible matches which shows the names of both parents. It is also possible to get a full list of all born to two parents by entering the names of the parents, leaving the dates blank and searching for both sexes

Moir

I have just searched births for male Craigs, any year, Aberdeen. I am not seeing any parents' names, let alone the mother's maiden name. What am I doing wrong?

I don't use SP much as I don't have any Scottish ancestors, but I can't find parents names either, so would like to know how to do that. If I search for a birth records the columns in the results are headed:

Surname - Forename - Gender - Year - Ref - RD Name - Image View

Oh, maybe we are talking about pre-1855 only, so baptisms not births?
